Spring/Summer 2013 Fashion Trend: Pencil Skirts

I don't think pencil skirts really ever go out of style, but they are certainly on-trend for this Spring and Summer.  (Above: Christopher Kane; Oscar de la Renta; Roland Mouret; Tom Ford.)  The great thing about a pencil skirt is that they are flattering on every body type.  The key is to choose a length that is right for you.  If you are short, make sure that the skirt hits right above your knees to elongate your legs.  If you are longer, you should choose a length that hits right below your knees.  While I'm sure you already have a pencil skirt in your closet, there are some really cute and unique patterned and colorful pencil skirts available right now.  Below are some options to choose from:  Trina Turk "Pencil Me In" skirt for $228 on www.bloomingdales.com; Rhyme Los Angeles sporty pencil skirt for $59 on www.piperlime.com; Tinley Road striped pencil skirt for $49 on www.piperlime.com; Belted graphic pencil skirt for $89.50 on www.bananarepublic.com; Pastel tweed skirt for $89.50 on www.bananarepublic.com; Chrysalis midi pencil skirt for $128 on www.anthropologie.com; Alva lace pencil skirt for $88 on www.anthropologie.com; Prabal Gurung for Target colorblock skirt for $29.99 on www.target.com; Style&co. pencil skirt for $49 on www.macys.com; Printed floral pencil skirt for $39.90 on www.express.com; Tory Burch "Uma" silk pencil skirt for $250 on www.nordstrom.com; Robert Rodriguez graphic stripe pencil skirt for $245 on www.nordstrom.com.
